Fila Adventures is a Tanzania owned, operated and based company that does one thing and only one thing – safaris. We offer the highest quality of professionalism and service in all of our safaris – whether it is a safari on a budget or a luxury safari with all of the extra amenities. Our guides are all trained and highly experienced. Shaaban Lagwen, our chief guide, has over 20 years’ experience as a guide in Tanzania – and all of our guides have at least 15 years’ experience.

What is truly unique to Fila – and puts us head and shoulders above the other safari companies – is that we custom tailor each safari to meet the desires and expectations of our customers. Upon first making your email enquiry, you will receive a questionnaire that will help us to formulate the best safari to meet your needs. Then, we encourage you to meet with your actual safari guide using Skype – and at that time you and he can fine tune specific details of your safari.

When your flight arrives at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by your guide and transported to your first hotel. And the next morning, your safari adventure will begin.

All Fila Adventures safaris must be paid for in advance of the actual safari. We ask that a payment of 50% of the total be made at least 90 days prior to the start of the safari. And we ask that the balance of 50% be paid at least 30 days prior to the start of the safari. To simplify payment, either by credit card or by wire transfer, Fila Adventures accepts and process payments through a bank in the United States, for both wire transfer and credit card payments.

Shaaban Lagwen is the chief guide for Fila Adventures and also one of the principle owners of the company. Shaaban has worked as a safari guide in Northern Tanzania for more than twenty years and is considered as one of Tanzania’s finest and most experienced guides.

Shaaban is a fluent English speaker and always establishes an easy going repartee with his clients while on game drives. His knowledge of the animals of East Africa is amazing – and so it his knowledge and understanding of the plants and trees. It is not uncommon, when on a game drive with Shaaban, to be tracking an animal and to hear Shaaban start calling that animal – he is able to mimic the natural cries of most African animals.

When tour groups are too large for only a single vehicle, Shaaban is usually assisted by one of several other guides, all equally as experienced and as charismatic as Shaaban.

Prior to your safari – or even when you are just contemplating a safari – Shaaban loves to have a video chat using Skype. Simply drop him an email to set up a mutually convenient time.

One may easily think that luxury and safari are not mutually compatible terms – and this is certainly the situation with most safari companies. However, Fila Adventures has considerable expertise providing to the special requirements of the most elite safari enthusiast. Beyond providing lodging in ultra exclusive hotels, Fila can have special vehicles and uniformed servers meet the safari car to set-up gourmet lunches in the bush, or to set up with champagne and caviar for sunset viewings in the perfect romantic site.

Another Fila specialty is to arrange to have its exclusive clients flown between the lodges, where they are met by Shaaban in his impeccably appointed Land Rover for daily game drives.

If a luxury safari intrigues you, please contact us so that we may propose the ultimate and most memorable experience.

The first time safari often starts with one or several game drives through the Ngorongoro Crater, which boasts Africa’s richest concentration of major species, including lions, elephants, rhinoceros, hippopotamus, zebra, wildebeest, cape buffalo, hyena and many, many more. In fact, the Crater has two lion prides, both of which have over 20 members. And so, in a single morning and evening game drive, the first time safari participant can view the most desirable species and then can spend the remaining safari time in other parks that have fewer people and which offer better quality viewing, though often with less frequent animal sightings.

But always, in the case of a first time safari, Shaaban will communicate with the family or group, either by email or preferably by Skype, so that he can learn the exact preferences and expectations of his clients.

Over the years, Shaaban has guided many professional photographers and videographers and knows, not only how to find the best animal behavior, but also how to position the vehicle for the best camera angles and to correctly anticipate the movement of the animals and impending action.

The Fila Adventures vehicles are equipped for camera shooting from the doorways, windows and from open hatches in the roofs which are not encumbered by pillars for overhead sun shades.
